Pinewood and Compressed Wood for Reptile rack
Would it be safe to use plywood planks and compressed wood planks in order to build a reptile rack? I know it's not safe to use pine as bedding or when building custom tanks but it's it bad if I use it to build racks or a stand?

    Plese let me know
    Thank you

Pine can be used as bedding, cedar cannot. The wood will have to be sealed to protect it from the moisture tho

I've always been told to stay away from pine.

Kiln dried pine is supposed to be "fine" but I've also seen animals get lesions while on pine bedding. Pine wood is fine for enclosures as long as you seal it (which you want to do for any wood anyway).

I'd be interested in this, I know people who have kept snakes (including ball pythons) on pine for over 20 years without any noticeable issues

I would use melamine instead, no need then to pay for sealant or have to wait for it to finish offgassing any fumes before you can use it.

I have known people who have used it without issue for years as well, myself included. (in the early 90s it was what I used as I was unfamiliar with aspen and cypress mulch) Some people have speculated the particular animals that had issues were just sensitive to it. Sadly with the loss of most forums the documented information is lost.

I have read no cedar, pine, or eucalyptus woods because the oils are toxic.
