Help! Bulb exploded

So this is MY fault as I missed the light bulb on accident...and it exploded. Now my snake has no heat and my room temp is 68 degrees! I don't know what to do because all my stores that sell heat bulbs are closed right now until morning. I do have a heat mat and a thermostat but I don't have a probed thermometer to mesure what my temps are at! I just don't know what to do

And I've got him out and he was curled in a towel that I had warmed in the drier but he climbed up on my neck and is curled there. I'm not sure what to do. Should I put him back??

If you have an uth he should be fine. He will curl up on it.

The heat mat should be sufficient. In a pinch, use a regular light bulb. They put out quite a lot of heat, too...

So I have a 75 watt light bulb I found,can that be used on a thermostat? I unplugged the mat because the bulb is already at 93(on a dimmer)

Normally, I would say the heat mat should be just fine, esp. on a thermostat. Put his favorite hide above it and if he wants to be warm, he will get in there and curl up above that heat mat. As long as that area doesn't get more then 92, he will be good. That way you can turn the light bulb off, they can take a bit of a drop in ambient temps as long as they got a "warm spot".

Getting a little bit cooler then normal for a few hours, is better then getting to hot !

Has he eaten recently ?

This happened to me a few months back. Luckily I keep a spare bulb. Might be worth looking into getting a ceramic heat emitter instead of actual bulbs.

not that this will help you now, but I make it a habit to keep (an) extra bulb(s) on hand. (Plural for me because I have 2 snakes and a leopard gecko), even with the CHE. better to have it and not need it. For the record, it took my poor leopard gecko going with out heat for a night once or twice before I got smarter.

Thank you for all the new replys! I actually hooked the regular light bulb up to my thermostat and it keeps it at 88-90 degrees :weirdface I'm definitely going to be keeping extra bulbs on hand :oops: I am just mad at myself for being I'm this situation.
