Snake exploration room?

So i have a large home, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus den. I currently don't use one of the bedrooms. I've been thinling of turning it into a snake exploration room. Blocking off all possible escapes and raising the room to 83. Do you think this would add stress to my noodles?

What kinds of snakes do you have? Its just BP correct? If you have some more active snakes like colubrids I would say they might like it but I'm not sure about a BP. The most reaction you'll get would probably be a mad dash for the nearest dark place lol.

I don't see anything harmful in it though as long as you make triple sure there is no room for escape

Yup I'm down to just beeps. I thought about the mad dash thing but think i can counteract it with enough clutter and hides. I'm worried that it could cause stress though.

If they were there to long it may be stressful, and without proper supervision you could have a few lost snakes on your hands lol. I just feel like they wouldn't make use of it to much. I would imagine they would just pick one dark spot and stay there.

Do you already have one of the rooms as a reptile room for them where you have their enclosures and stuff set up? If not maybe you could just repurpose the room for that

There's a reptile enclosure room as well as a quarentine room. I suppose i could repurpose the room as me and the wife's sex dungeon lol.

Sounds like a fun idea. Once you get the room escape proofed and heated, you could run some pretty neat experiments to better understand your snake and it's wants/needs.

If I had a house that big that's exactly what I'd do. For now I can only dream of having a snake room, let alone a sex dungeon. I suppose I'd better find someone to marry first... :oops:

When I was renting a nice sized house in Vegas, I did that. I put some large branches in the corners, a kiddie pool in the middle, some large corrugated tubes and other random stuff around and then would let my big boas (one at a time!) loose in the room to explore. Supervised of course. Some of them seemed to enjoy the out time every once in a while (not always). I liked being able to do that for them and wish I still could. Of course these were 5-7' boas. They tended to stick to the edges of the room, crawling up and around on the logs and tubes around the room but that was about it. If a boa wasn't in the mood, they'd usually just chill or curl up in a corner so back to their enclosure they would go. None of them ever checked out the pool.

A would suspect a BP might me intimidated by the large empty space but some snakes are simply more outgoing than others. Maybe set up a jungle gym type thing with tubes and boxes to explore in the closet so it's more of a confined smaller area (with the doors open so snakie could come out if it wanted to).

As a landlady of homes in Vegas the thought of someone doing that to one of my rentals terrifies me!

That being said having a room exclusively for snakes to crawl and explore sounds like an amazing idea. Another idea is to just bite the bullet and get some large lizards and turn that room into one giant tegu habitat. Then again I have a thing for big lizards so that might be a terrible idea.

As long as the carpet was covered to protect it in case the snake had an accident or water was spilled, and nothing was screwed into the walls, there shouldn't be an issue.

Now that said I don't see a ball python getting much enrichment from such a playground, though boa constrictors, and Burmese and reticulated pythons would be fun to watch in it.
