    Jaw looks funny
I picked up a male pied from someone a few weeks ago and for some reason I didn't look at the jaw of the snake before bringing him home. I have him a once over and asked a few questions and completed the purchase.
As I was cleaning his tub this week, I noticed a brownish color on his jaw. Is this something I should be worried about? I haven't seen an underside that looks like this before. Thanks! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cc9f393dcf.jpg

Is it just on the underside or is it on the "jaw hinge"? By that i mean corners of its mouth.

    What substrate are you using?

I would say it is normal, because my Piebald has this feature of darker scales under the jaw, it almost looks "dirty" since the brown scales look like flecks agains the white.

Thanks. I was going to try to get a better photo today but we are recovering from having our hardwood floors refinished this weekend and trying to get the house back in order. It does look "dirty" though.

As to the question about the substrate, I am using unprinted newsprint.

My pied's lower jaw is very similar so I don't think its anything to worry about.

that's normal for Pieds (and Spiders). i call it a stubble. Lol even my beautiful Pied girl Nessarose has it. it looks like she has a 5 o'clock shadow.
