    Shedding - Need Help
I've had my BP since August 22nd (close to 2 months) and he has yet to shed. He arrived weighing 196g, has eaten each week and now weights 263g. I started him off on f/t med mice and quickly upped them to large mice (artic mice). Spoke to a breeder yesterday at the local Repticon and he seemed shocked; suggesting that maybe he should be eating rats (which was my reasoning for attending the show). I bought a bunch of f/t rat pups so we'll see this week.

Is this normal for this time period to pass without a shed?

I would assume it would not be any means for concern. Sounds maybe like you hinted at, to be a growth plateau with the current prey size. I would think then that it would be best to up the size you offer and see if that gets them gaining and growing which then should bring on a shed. Snakes really shed when they need to and not on a set schedule so I guess just see how it goes after a few feedings and see if they go blue. They need to outgrow their current skin so to speak.

It is unusual for one that young but not unheard of. In the picture he looks healthy. I would not be too concerned. Make sure your humidity is good. He should shed soon. Mice vs rats is an economic thing. Everything I have either starts on rats or is converted to rats in short order. It is cheaper to feed rats.

Mine did the exact same thing. I got him in August, and he just shed a couple days ago for the first time since I’ve has him. I wouldn’t worry about it :)

Thanks everyone. I didn't think it was too much of an issue but this is my 1st snake and everyone has been telling me I should expect a shed every month so I started to question it. Bottom line, he seems to be healthy (eats every week and has been putting on weight).

Here's hoping the transition to rats from mice is a smooth one.
