heat lamp

so i just got a beautiful female baby lesser pastel and i love her so much. but i have a question, she came with a red heat lamp and i don’t know if i should leave it on at night or not or if i should buy a white one for day time, please help i really wanna do this right.

If the room she's kept in has sufficient light in the daytime you can use the red one day and night.

Yea like chris said if theres enough lighting you can keep the red bulb 24/7 theres alot of debate weather snakes can see the red bulb you can use a ceramic heat emitter bulb they emit no light and are great for nightime use they do dry out the air and get really warm so its best to regulate with dimmer or get a lower wattage bulb but to answer your question you can use the red bulb 24/7

Snakes can DEFINITELY see the red bulb. I once flicked the switch on and my ball python flinched as if a light just got shone on his face, but red light being low-frequency light, it doesn't bother them afaik.

They can see the red light, and while it may not stress them immediately, it can become something that eventually compounds into them not eating. I would suggest a ceramic heater emitter instead -- all heat output, no light. Plus is creates its own little hot spot directly beneath the bulb that can act like a hot spot if it's hot enough (surface temp of 88-92 degrees F, measured by an infrared temp gun).

I also believe they can see the light my girl also reacted to the red bulb when iused to turn the light on i got her a che 75 watt its gets pretty warm but since i use at night i leave ac on and with the low room temp it keeps tank temp at about 85-90

It should also be noted that ALL heat sources should be modulated, whether that is from a thermostat or a dimmer for CHEs/heat bulbs. These are our safety nets to ensure that the worst case scenario cannot happen. (or at least becomes highly unlikely.)

Heat lamps come in colored bulbs (some labeled as night and day) and also in non-light emitting ceramic bulbs. Both are good sources of heat for many reptiles, but are NOT suitable for Ball Pythons. They require belly heat, not basking heat.

If you are absolutely set on using a bulb, then the night time heat bulb by Zilla is an alright one to use. It provides heat to raise the ambient temps plus does not disrupt the snakes environment with light.
