    mis cared for beardies?
Hey everyone. I got my first two beardies yesterday . . . I don't think they have been being taken care of right. The people before me who had them had been running a UVA bulb and a "night time black bulb". From what iv'e read the night time bulbs are bad and interrupt their sleep patterns? I also read that UVA isn't as good as UVB and that you have to use UVB over UVA? Can you guys confirm this? What should i do, except of course get a UVB bulb for them and not use the night time light as the temps at my house never get below about 68 at night. They should be fine at night without any heat?? Thanks for your guy's help!

Yes, beardies need that UVB, need to get one asap if they have not been having one at all. No night time bulb either, it does disturb them as they have a "3rd eye" on top of their head that senses light. I run a UVB light and Basking light only in my tanks for them, basking spot is about 110 degrees, they like it hot. I have them in my room so even if I'm still awake watching tv or on the PC, I'll cover their tanks with a blanket to keep the light out.
