Funny Conversation I Overheard at Work Today
I was walking past the break room this morning and one co-worker had asked another "So, are they keeping you busy?" and he said "Busier than a snake in hot sand!".

I peeked my head in and said "so exactly how busy IS a snake in hot sand?" and he said like this: and started doing this funny little dance moving his feet really quickly.

OK, it amused me and I'm sure you had to be there, but I wanted to share!

Hehehe - i liked it - nice phrase. We should start a figuratively speaking thread and see how many of those phrases we can fill it with:

    "Like . . . "

    "a one armed paper-hanger"
"butter dripping off a hot biscuit" etc

"you are so mechanically inclined, it reminds me of a monkey copulating with a football"

Now thats not to say I have actually seen a monkey trying that, however, I have told my hubby that a few times when we have gone out to work on vehicles and I have to tell him what to do. You would think that being a guy he would know more about working on vehicles that I, esp. since his father is a mechanic.

    here is a good one....

"your coordination reminds me of a bull in a china shop"

Fortune cookie says: confusious say: never let bull in china shop

    "think outside the box"

Ok, I did not know I was in a box to begin with... all the sudden it seems so dark in here. Is this how Jack feels?

    "ride like the wind"

Since when did the wind ride, I thought it blew?

"like a rock" (from the chevy commercial)

You know, I wonder if they ever thought that someone might actually compare Chevy's to rocks, cause if so, rocks dont go anywhere, cept where you carry them.

Chevy "Nova".. nova means "No Go" in spanish.. maybe thats why sales on that car were so poor in Mexico.

Was reading over a bottle of meds for my son.. says "take one by mouth one time a day"

No , really? I was hoping to shove it up my nose and see if I could go to the ER and give the doc a challenge in removing it!

Real life situation: a friend of mine was learning to drive, and her Mom told her she was going too fast.. she looks at her Mom, and says, "Mom your on crack, it says I am going 35"... (as she was looking at the rpm gauge)

The next day, she was once again driving, her Mom says, step on the gas you are going too slow... she steps on the brake and the car behind her slams into her, and her Mom says "No the other gas pedal".

Needless to say, this friend of mine has never ever had a drivers license due to driving her car through someones livingroom when she thought she was applying the brake.

lol, I don't feel so bad. I did all the classics while I was learnin to drive; stopping the car and taking the key out w/o shifting to park was one. Another time, I had my boyfriend LIVID when I almost ran him over with the truck, which was stuck in mud and he was pulling it out with the tractor. It was actually funny, seeing him SO MAD while not being able to hear the obscenities he was slinging!
Then there's the whole backing-up thing; he could NOT figure out why I was doing so bad backin in the driveway. Then I realized; he was tellin me to turn right, and I mistook it for left. lol.
Yer friend should be able to get a license, if I did.
Do not EVER let me get into a standard-transmission car/truck. I almost took out a barn by accidentally starting one with a "rolling start"

This isn't really a figurative line but more of a not making any sense sentence. Yesterday most of my department (technology) was at Brahn's steakhouse for lunch...Our new Tech Director was talking with some others about a certain store that was going through changes and things where not where he could find them easily.

I wasn't really paying attention until I heard this:

    "Nothing is where anything is..."

it was funny at the time and still crack's up my supervisor...I have set this as my away message for Trillian (IM prog).
