    ...Curiosity...
I've been REALLY curious about something.

Why does Axel seem to not come out at night unless my curtains have been opened all day? let me explain this a little better, If the curtains are shut all day, NO light coming through, he will just stay in his hide all day and night, but when I open the curtains, and it gets night time he seems to enjoy getting out.
I know, "A hiding Ball Python, is a happy Ball Python." I am just curious, does he like it better with the curtains open all day and then shut at night? lol

Well, thanks for checking in. lol :)

Curtains open help reproduce natural day and night cycles. I use a neodymium bulb during the day. Not for heat, use Che and uth for heat, but to reproduce uva uvb rays, (BP's don't require them but i like to try and reproduce natural environment for them) then only use infared at night.

So, basically, I am actually kinda doing right to leave the curtains open? lol Btw I should have added that he is NOT by the window, so I don't confuse anyone. lol

It's a long running debate if day light is required for them. I fall under the oppinion that while it's not required it doesn't hurt. I've seen reports that UV's can help make colors more vibrant. Yeah I'd never keep an enclosure by a window, mostly because i worry about heat loss (I live in northern Canada.) So yeah no wrong or right answer on this subject yet. Do what makes axel happy.

Interesting observation. I am wondering how much is just coincidence since it's been such a short time period since you've had him. Please keep us posted on whether this behavior keeps up. Cool stuff, thanks for sharing.

How so and what do you mean by "Just coincidence"?

And Of course, i'll keep y'all updated, if y'all want. :)

EDIT: Is there something wrong with it?

What I mean is that since you've only had your snake for such a short period of time, maybe him coming out certain days and the connection to the curtains being open or closed may be coincidence. It may be completely connected, may have no connection. With such a small sample size of days to base the research on it's tough to say.
If the behavior continues for an extended period of time, there may be science behind it and it would be proven to not be coincidence.

Not sure I explained that well, but see what I'm saying?

Oh, and no, nothing wrong with it at all. I'm interested in learning from your results :)
