Yes some hybrids are cool the problem lies with the ethics of breeding hybrids, lack of lineage and down the road an hybrid looking pure which can really mess with someone's project if this is not disclosed.

Same with intergrades, used to be a time when Carpet intergrades were very popular but they were well documented as well (lineage and percentage), now you contact some people breeding carpets and they have no clue.

I think we do enough with genetics in producing normal locale animals and some amazing ones at that. We don't need to muddy the species and subspecies for glamour and ostentatious gratification :colbert:. Intergrades occur naturally in the wild and because of geographical overlapping of territories is unavoidable. Purposely breeding different species in captive terrariums is unnecessary and should be avoided. Totally my personal feelings and folk can do as they please.

For me, I think many of them are gorgeous. I wonder about the husbandry aspects. Scaleless corns are actually Corn/Emory Rat hybrids, but they are totally compatible so there are no husbandry/genetic issues. I don't know if the animals that are being crossed are creating non-viable or problematic babies... it's also very important to label them as such if/when they are sold.

I personally think if one breeds arboreal to arboreal or terrestrial to terrestrial, and both species have similar husbandry requirements, similar prey items, it seems fine to me. They're not contributing to the wild population, and their needs are known.

Some hybrids occur naturally in the wild often, like dumeril's and MGB.

I dislike not knowing what I'm getting. I think hybrids honestly don't sell that well and people are tempted to lie about the origins of their animals in order to get them moved.

    I don't like that idea.
