thermostat for the ceramic heat emitter

During the winter time our house is so cold that I don't worry about using one for the heat lamp. Summer time though our bedroom is usually about 75-80 degrees. no problem, just don't use the heat emitter, except, this is the year we finally got an extra AC unit for the bedroom. Makes sleeping glorious, but now I have the issue of, the bedroom is 75-80 when we aren't in there and 66 when we are. I've been unplugging the heat lamp when we aren't in the room, the problem arises when it's 2am and I bolt up out of bed because I remember the lamp is unplugged. So I'm going to hook the heat emitter up to a thermostat, but where would I position the probe for this? Also, do I set the emitter probe to 80?

I just wedged mine so that it's in the path of the CHE and then adjust based on the ambient temps.

You don't say what you enclosure is made out of or the size of it. You should better explain your setup and perhaps include pictures so people can provide advice on placement.

I have currently a glass terrarium with screen tops. I have my CHE on an adjustable pole with a wire cage lamp. I have the probe situated about 3 inches below the screen top dangling underneath the CHE. I use this thermostat to control the temps that are read by thermometer on the lower part of the enclosure below the CHE.

You can also use this dimmer but need to rely on a quality digital thermometer to tell you the temps to dim it to

He is in a 40 gallon breeder, glass tank. Screen lid (covered with aluminum tape except where the CHE is), the glass is covered on the outside (3 sides) with foam board insulation. I also have the CHE on an adjustable zoomed lamp stand. dangling three inches, got it. This would be to keep his ambient temperatures right so his cool end is about 80. Would it make more sense to put the probe on the cool end? his UTH is already on a thermostat so his warm hide is 90. I just realized I didn't mention his UTH in my original post
