Is it possible for a Ball python to "Like You"?
Is it actually possible or is it more or less you're a giant tree that brings tasty rodents? I ask because when my girlfriend holds him whenever I'm near her my Bp always reaches his head out towards me not in a threatening way and when you're taking pictures or videos on your phone it always sticks it's head right up to the camera (strike a pose hehe) any thoughts?

Re: Is it possible for a Ball python to "Like You"?
Ball Python's don't have the emotional or psychological capacity to feel attachment or an emotional connection to someone like say a dog or a cat can. They can't like you or love you or care about your well being. However, they can trust you and feel comfortable around you. They generally associate your smell and warmth as a safe place. Ball pythons are also very curious animals, and like to investigate new smells and objects. Your Ball Python doesn't like you, for say, but he definitely trusts you, and feels safe around you.

Mine loves that I bring him food and clean water but as far as dog level love... he would rather crawl away before showing me the slightest inkling of affection. He does recognize me over the other members of the family here but that is as far as any form of familiarity goes. I am only his food bringer and poop wrangler.

Yeah, it's true, snakes don't have the capability to feel emotions such as like, love or hate. They do, however, develop trust as well as have a very good sense of reading people. They know if they feel safe and comfortable with somebody, usually somebody familiar. They also know if they do NOT feel safe and comfortable with somebody.
I know of one member on this forum who has one snake that is super chill with everybody, except his wife. Apparently, the snake just gets a weird vibe from her. Yet the rest of his snakes are fine with her.
The truth is: you'll never go away for a day or two and come home to see your snake pacing the glass, wagging it's tail excited to see you. They simply don't feel that type of emotion.
I love my snakes, they are family. However, they are just comfortable with me, not threatened by me and accept me, but do not love me back. And I'm fine with that...

That's all I could ever ask for!

I can't even describe the love that I have for my snake, he's my favorite pet and that's saying a lot since I have 8 other animals.
But does he love me back? Nope, but he's chill and comfortable around me, him trusting me enough to let me even hold him is enough for me c:
He trusts me, but he definitely doesn't have a problem biting me when he's in a bad mood and wants to let me j ow to leave him alone haha.
Just know that's its okay for you to think that your snake loves you!! Its kinda hard for some people to own loving cats and dogs and then an animal that's not even capable of love or hate, only trust and distrust. I would say just don't try to force the snake to love you lol, meaning too much handling and bothering it a lot, etc.
