    Food size help
So I'm trying to figure out what the best size prey is for my snake. I went to buy a bigger mouse today because the ones I have are about 7.5g each and I know that's too small.

But the only size up the pet store has is a decent size bigger but I couldn't get the weight because they didn't know and they don't have a scale but I have pics. To me it looks like he could handle it fine but they told me it would be too big. What do you guys think?

He's about 3-4 months old and I think 100-130 grams (my scale is coming tomorrow!).

    Thanks everyone https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7a7c80096a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3297cf605e.jpg

I'd suggest something just slightly larger around than your snake is in diameter. It Should leave a little bit of a bulge in the snakes belly.

Ive been feeding as close to 10% of body weight as I can. I plan on doing that till my male is up to a small rat. From my understanding, a small rat is all a male will ever need.

Yeah I've seen charts like that but the issue is I don't know the exact weight or age of the mice or my snake so it's making things hard. If I go with the smaller which I know is too small I'm assuming I'd feed two of them but do I do it's once every three days or both at the same time?

    Have you tried rats?
Most pet shops have a scale somewhere. When my girl was smaller I'd request a "live rat fuzzie about 15-20gr". Most of the people could get pretty close.

That prey size looks fine to me.

This^ But as mentioned, aim for 10%.

Having a scale for their general husbandry is good, however, to keep track of the snake's weight so you know when to resort to more drastic responses to inevitable extended fasts, to aid your vet if illness occurs, etc.

Yeah agreed. I have one coming from amazon today. I will weigh him today and update the results. I'm also gonna measure his diameter.
