When Should He Start Reproducing?

i had 2 female rats together for a couple days. I just got a male rat today so i can get babies for food. when should he start trying to mate with them? A fast response is not neccesary but appreciated.

As soon as they come into heat.. which is every few days. The females may not accept him right away, so it could be a week or two before they are actually pregnant.
