    New Hides
Well in the ongoing search for new hides for our growing ball pythons we stumbled across this great product at our local feed store.

    http://www.miller-littlegiant.com/mi...arch&itemNum=3

We took the 2 qt dog dishes and using a pair of tin snips put a nice entrance way into them. They are very sturdy and tough but not brittle like plastic and the edge of the entrance is not "rough". The snakes seem to love em! Nice and dark (being black rubber), heavy enough they don't shove them around much and a nice flat "roof" if anyone wants to hang out up there for any reason. Very reasonably priced too at about $3.00 or so each. American made too!

Just thought I'd share our little find with you. Apparently they don't sell direct but to mostly feed/farm supply stores. There is an even bigger one 8 qt I think it is that would be great for the bigger snakes.

    Hey Jo......nice find.
Your link was broken but I looked around and found them (link takes you to the site but not the product). Do they have an odor? (a heavy rubber smell) Looks like they would make a nice hide.....you could even cut a hole in the top and bury the sides in your substrate.

    Good stuff.

Thanks Joe, I really do suck at posting links LOL. They had no odor I could detect but being the OCD sufferer I am (like all snake newbies I'm sure) I disinfected them and then ran them under cool water. They've been in the sterlite's for a few days now and no odor whatsoever when I open either tub.

Yep you could do a number of things with them. They are hard to cut tho being such heavy rubber so we found the tin snips worked perfectly. The other thing I liked is they don't seem to slide around as much as some of the other things we tried for hides.

Amazing the stuff you find outside the pet store for your pet LOL.
