    Suggested pairing...
I just attended a show today and picked up a breeder pastel female. I am still new to the hobby and only have a female cinnamon Genetic Stripe and a male genetic Stripe. The two stripes aren't ready to go yet this year. I was wondering what a good pairing would be for the pastel. I want to get into pieds and clowns in the future but don't know if I should start there, or should I try something that would produce a visual for this pairing. Any suggestions would be great.

    thanks.

Well if you don't have a male ready. Your only limited to your imagination and pocket book. Breed for what you want and can afford.

I'd say, the sky is the limit.

    Well, and the pocket book...

With Clowns and Pieds you need at the very least to buy "Hets". From a trustworthy seller. Then you have to be lucky to get some "visuals". If you want visuals faster then that, you have to buy them or at least have one parent be a visual.

For your Pastel Female, any male that carries "at least" pastel will give you some visuals.

Don't get so caught up in the whole breeding thing. Buy what YOU yourself find visually pleasing, an animal you can enjoy, breeding aside. Its just more fun if you yourself like what you produce, not just worry about the market or what goes best with what..

Males that are at a minimum a pastel are fairly easy to find, even 2 gene ones are. Have fun with it :)

The pastel portion of this post was incorrect. The female pastel alone will throw visual pastels. By adding a pastel male to her you have the potential to get super pastels.

If you just now have 3 BPs and your oldest owned 2 are juveniles still then I'd really hold off on the breeding ambitions until you've cared for them longer and really research all of the pros and cons. Seems too many people buy them and within months think they'll be money makers without taking into consideration all of the additional costs of hatchling racks, way more feedings, building or buying an incubator.. in the end if you decide to breed then breed what you want and enjoy. From the morphs you mentioned I'm not sure where pastel fit into there unless you're thinking looong term goal to producing pastel het pieds and holding them back to eventually get pastel pieds. That'll take about 4-5 years by the time you produce a female and wait til she's about 3 to breed and hope she has good odds the first year.
