URGENT BP got boiling water over head

So my ball python struck at boiling water and got some over his head. I don't see any burns but he keeps yawning. Is he okay???

There doesn't appear to be any marks and he's acting completely normal now (and isn't yawning anymore). I've also checked his mouth, nothing out of the ordinary and he's breathing fine apart from a few sneezes(?) every now and then (he hasn't got a respiratory infection either, maybe he got some up his nose?). Ok, I don't see anything in the pics, but it's worth keeping an eye on it.

Out of curiosity, and perhaps as a learning experience, how did your snake come in contact with boiling water?

No more snake near the stove

Don't know how this could've happened if you were handling responsibly.... you should always take into consideration the environment and potential risky behavior going on around you in your house (or that YOU yourself plan on participating in) before you bring your snake out of its tank and into that environment.

PLEASE before you handle your snake again, take into account other animals like cats and dogs, excessive activity (like children running through the house etc), loud noises, and situations that have the potential to cause harm, and either avoid them or wait until later to take the snake out. Situations that have the potential to take a harmful turn include bringing your snake into a busy kitchen and/or cooking while handling them. Which can also be dangerous for you, if your snake comes into contact with what you're going to be eating or be eating off of.

If it really was boiling water that your snake struck at and dunked his head in, you're lucky you don't have a noodle with a cooked brain. Watch him for development of blisters. I'm more concerned about the heat pits and mouth since they aren't protected by scales but keep an eye on everything.

Yes, yes, I am very aware of my mistake. As of now he looks completely fine. I don't see anything out of the ordinary on his head or in his mouth and he's acting normal. He is however sneezing every now and then but it's faint. There's absolutely no signs of an RI but I'll keep a close eye on him over the next couple of days. The boiling water wasn't poured on his head and he didn't completely dunk his head in it either, he sensed heat and struck at a jar that had boiling water in it (he got some over him, luckily my hand got the worst of it). I think the biggest problem may not have been the boiling water, but the fact he struck at full force against glass with boiling water in it. It may have explained why he was yawning a lot (he isn't anymore though).

It was a jar that was filled with boiling water. My mum usually keeps it for ticks she finds on the dogs. I was carrying him around and was going to weigh him with the scales in the kitchen and I didn't realise the jar of water close to the scales was still boiling, I thought it was cool because everyone had been out for a bit. As I went to move it out of the way (and realising it was still very hot) my bp struck at it before I could even react. They're lightning fast, that's for sure. I guess I'll have to keep an even closer eye on him.
