Ball python feeding

I know I've been asking lots of questions on here. Maybe I should know the answer to most of them but I like to make sure. I have a 4 year old ball python that has been a picky and bad eater since I got him 4 years ago. He defiantly isn't as large as most adult male bps. Over the last three months he has become way more interested in feeding for some reason. So my question is, now that he's to a more reasonable size, should I cut down how much and how often he's being fed? He's currently eating one large adult mouse every 7 days.

What is a most reasonable size? In grams.

Long as you're following the general 10% of weight/widest part of the body rule, there should be no issues. Mine's 610g, on roughly 60g adult mice. "Large" is subjective, each place labels their rodents differently.

What you want to watch for is them losing spine definition. Some spine should still be visible to the eye, but not enough it's giving them a triangle-like body shape. Nor should they be a rolly polly sausage of a snake. But since they may fast during breeding season and go off food at any point (history of being a finicky eater) I'd say let them slam what they want for now. He could be trying to bulk up to go into winter fast and you'll be glad for those extra grams if he happens to go off food again in the future for an extended time.

Worst case, post pics of the animal, laid out and straight as possible, from top, side, and front. With those three any of the regulars should be able to tell you if your snake is looking like he's at a healthy weight.
