    Ceramic heat emitter and uth
Hi, I've recently had a new plastic enclosure built for my ball python. It's size is approximately 1400x600x500mm.
I've put a heating pad on the one side underneath the enclosure and the temperature gets to a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius. Should I put the ceramic heat emitter on the same side of the enclosure as the heating pad or on the opposite side of the enclosure?

IMO i'd place it on the opposite side. how are you regulating these heat sources?

What would you suggest, I've never had to use a CHE before

    a thermoSTAT

a rheostat (dimmer) for the CHE will suffice if the room has a fairly stable temperature.

I don't have a regulator on it, I have a digital thermometer on that side of the enclosure and just monitor it, it's never gone above 25 degrees Celsius

ALL heat sources MUST be regulated, there is no exception to this rule. you can't monitor your UTH 24/7/365 and you're risking the safety of your snake without regulating it. you need to get it on a thermostat or at least a dimmer like the CHE has.

Thanks for all your help, I'll get a thermostat first thing tomorrow morning for the Uth, what size CHE would you recommend for my enclosure size?

hm...in inches we have 55x23x~20 inches. that's pretty big, so i'm not too sure. the only CHE i use is in my 20gal (~20x12x12in) and i use a 100watt bulb. do some digging on your own to see what might be appropriate. wish i could be of more help on this one!

and you're welcome, btw! i just want your lil noodle to be happy. :)
