Best substrate?

We are now sitting at 20 balls. We have a tub/rack system. We currently use paper towels, but those are pricey. I personally prefer them cuz theyre easy to clean and maintain, but were looking at pricey substrate every change (after every shed, poop, pee, more frequent if they dump their bowls.

Humidity levels are great, every snake is happy and sheds singularly and easy, they all act like typical balls.

What do yall use for tub substrate?

Switch to newspaper, the ones that are free.

Based on ur situation new papers, or papertowels are gonna be the best choice. If you do papertowels don't buy those brand ones (in a bundle) buy single ones in warmart it cause about $ 0.99 each one

I use reptichip for my balls. It's easy to spot clean and one brick goes a long way. Alternatively, you can use butcher paper. It's available on Amazon and cheap.

I second the reptile prime it's excellent, I just put a thin layer of aspen over it to eliminate the possibility of getting some in there mouth when chasing live food but if you feed frozen off tongs you won't need the aspen.

Orchid bark ( Reptibark ?) for all mine .
Looks natural , makes the snakes look better and holds himidity well.

I feed over pieces of card to minimise ingestion of substrate

Where are you getting your paper towels? Cause I need to avoid that place. Paper towels are super cheap if you get the generic ones.

I personally use aspen shavings. Easy to spot clean and can last a long time between full cleanings. And helps with humidity.

I tried the paper towel and newspaper routes but I found my snakes just move them or go under them therefore negating the purpose.
