New ball pythons first feed question

So my new ball python ate for the first time last night. He is about 2 years old and ate 1 medium f/t rat. He ate it well but he went into his cool side hide and hasnt left it since. Is that normal? His temperatures are 90-93° on his warm side and 80-83° on his cool side. Ambient air is steady at 81° and humidity is at 55%. Just want to know if its odd that he hasn't moved since he ate.

Hi , may I ask what type of thermometer you are using ??

Does it have a wired probe ??

I have a accurite thermometer with a probe on the warm side and a probeless one on the cool side.

The warm side one sounds fine but the one on the cool side sounds like it may just be giving very approximate ambient air temps so that would/could be far different to the floor of the cool side ..

I also check the temperature of the substrate throughout the day with a temp gun and get readings within the range i mentioned above. Would that be a accurate way of gauging the temperatures?

Nothing to worry about. Your snake is just digesting. They will often remain in the same hide for at least a day or two after eating.

Boople gets in her hot tub (water dish) for a couple hours then goes to her cool side for 48 hours then pokes her head out like ok...food coma over.

Yep , sounds good to me !

My snakes tend to go to the warm hide / side after meals to be honest ... and stay there a while .
