Ball Pythons And Climbing

Hi,

I've had my little ball python for about a month now (he's about 14 inches long and weighs about 140 grams) and things are going really well. He's eating regularly and is showing only typical ball python behaviour.
Since it's already been a month I think it's about time to set up his tank in order for him to move when his quarantine is over.
His tank is about 31 inches long, 20 wide as well as high and is made out of wood (don't worry even though his tank is quite big he has a lot of coverage).
I've noticed that he loves to climb on things when he's awake at night. He just likes to hang out on his small branch that I put inside of his enclosure when I noticed it. I was reluctant at first because I heard the horror stories of ball pythons breaking their backs because they fell down but my vet strongly advised me to give the snake something to climb on.
Anyway, since I'm trying to set up his tank I've been wondering what kind of branches would be suitable for him because I know ball python are kind of clumsy and can fall down easily. How high should the highest part of the branch be?

Mine spend hours in branches . Hardly ever fall tbh . They're apparently often found in trees in the wild ... Probably the stories you heard were from the people who say they should spend every moment of their godforsaken lives hiding away - or they're not happy ..

As an alternative to branches, I've seen a lot of people (I've been meaning to make this my next project as well) using pvc piping to make jungle gyms/branches for their bps. You can get them for cheap at Home Depot/Lowes.

Mine chills on her branch all the time! Its not to high off the ground so she cam"t get hurt! Sorry my Bp was on my key bored as I was typing XD

My BP loves to climb on her shelf in her cage. I catch her hanging out up there a lot during the night.
