Record Keepings Apps - Android and iPhone
So I'm looking to start record keeping electronically as I figure paper is just liable to get lost however I can't find an appropriate application for the amateur hobbyist with a small collection.

Obviously Reptile Scan exists however it seems to be extortionately priced (£15) and looks like a subscription based service. Naturally I could just cobble together a spreadsheet and be done with it but I feel that there is a market here that is being completely untapped.

I mean honestly, who here wouldn't use record keeping software that turns your Android/iPhone into a portable record keeper? I can't see any downside other than for those of us who find ways to break phones on a regular basis.

For a pet snake I would not bother collecting date if you have a collection and want to keep track reptile scan is still your best option, what is 15 British pounds if you have several animals that will live for 30+ year???

I bought Reptile Scan almost a year ago and do not regret it. It has saved me time and money.

I know what you mean but I saw some bad reviews on the Play store and if I'm going to drop £15 on an application I am expecting something that is flawless. Not being able to try it out before ponying up is definitely a big reason for this thread.

Regardless, if RS is as good as you say it is I might just bite the bullet.

There is no way you are going to get flawless software for that type of cash. I have had the "pleasure" of working on a lot of software some in the multi-million range. Not a single thing I have seen in my entire career has been flawless.

We're talking relative here mate, I'm not meaning literally. You spend £0.69 on an app you're cool with a few particular peeves. You drop £15 you're expecting something "relatively" flawless.

I use the following cause I forget lots of crap...

There is no substitute for Reptiscan... I have a few old phones that I have it downloaded on so I keep an old phone with each rack. Yaaa wifi....
I also use Final Countdown. It gives you infinite countdowns/alarms and you can place each clutch on its own counter....
I have Manything downloaded which turns your own phones into security cameras. This means you can watch a clutch pip while you are at work...
I have World of Ball Python just for that on the fly ID Database...
Weather App for shipping and receiving purposes.....

I always keep an eye out for stuff that makes life easier...

I'm still using note cards. I have a collection of just over 30 animals, for those regularly using apps how much time and effort does it save for a small collection like mine?
