Saying Goodbye

It's with a heavy heart that I will be saying my final goodbyes to Nagini tomorrow. It's in her best interest to go to someone who is experienced and knows what they are doing. I will miss her greatly, as she was my first snake. She is going to a good home and I'm so happy to know that they can give her what I cannot. She will always have a place in my heart [emoji172]

I want to thank all of those who helped in answering all of my questions when I first got Nagini. You were all so helpful and I couldn't have made it this long without y'alls knowledge and support. Getting rid of Nagini is something that I never wished to happen, yet knew that I had to have an open mind about in the case that things with her did not get better. Fortunately, she will be going to a good home with an experienced owner.

So, I haven't been involved in this story. If you don't mind, what were the obstacles you couldn't overcome?

That snake looks healthy and happy to me, the substrate looks like it's a bit dry and could be misted. Are you having feeding issues? That snake looks like it may be coming up on the 1000 gram mark, in which case most of my ball pythons will fast for a month or two at that weight. Then they will start eating again until about 1500 grams and fast again, seems like a regular pattern with most of my ball pythons.

Are you gonna try with a Corn snake or something that will eat every week !?

She eats fine, but she's still very underweight. When I got her she weighed 64 grams. She has ate every week since then (except for the week she shed) yet she only weighs 65 grams according to my weigh in yesterday. She's also pretty aggressive and strikes at me all the time. In the tank, or out. At the current moment I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to try next. I have another bp that I rescued, so it isn't as if I'll have no snakes. I'm considering either a leopard gecko, corn snake, or a non-normal morph bp.

I think your scale is malfunctioning. The snake in that pic looks way more than 65g. Maybe 65oz but not grams. Most babies weigh more than that coming out of the egg. So I don't think the weight was the problem given you say she was eating fine. I can see how the striking would be intimidating though. Justin K has a good video on his YT channel on how to deal with nippy balls. I am at work so maybe someone else can look it up for you. Even if you are already final on parting with her, still give it a watch in case you have another nippy one in the future.

Thanks for the advice. I'm almost positive that my scale isn't malfunctioning though. I have two other bps in my care, one is mine and the other belongs to my girlfriend, who are weighing in where they should be.

Regardless of whether you keep the animal or it goes to someone else, I really think a fecal needs to be done. If there are parasites inhibiting weight gain they can spread to other animals. Parasites could be the cause of the behavior problems.
