Blushing

How does this blushing thing work? Most bps darken as they get older. I had Dandylion out and I know her head was not that light when I got her a couple months ago. It's lightened up considerably, and she has developed some very nice blushing areas. Will this continue as she gets older? Just curious.

Glad you started this thread Christie. I'd love to know this too as Baby has gone through 2 distinct shades in the 4 months we've had her. Punkin is definitely changing color after this last shed but I wonder with her if it's that increased decent food is allowing her to have a more healthy, normal coloring.

Dandylion is my rescue and she's really started filling out nicely and she's definitely getting lighter. Just gotta wait I guess for all those folks to get back from Daytona...little boogers! ;)

This is an interesting thread as i too would like to know. My normals are starting to look even brighter as they aged, where as my friend's ball is turning darker as it gets older.

Do you guys use light (red, uv etc) as supplementary heat source ?

well this is something i did not know happened to BP's.

Nope we just use under tub heaters for our two Royals.

i don't know all the technical stuff about it but i know that they do or they can develop or increase blushing when they are young. for normals and some pastels they can get brighter during the first year or so at which time the blushing may increase. i think that the darkening stage doesn't start until they are a bit older, but the blushing stays to some extent. i.e. if they develop some nice light blushing spots as juvies they will still have the lighter areas later on once they mature they may just not be as bright all around. that is my take on it anyhow and what i have seen in the course of a year with my bps of different ages. :)
