Is there something wrong with my snake?
The last 3 times I've fed my Leeloo, she has either struck at the stomach or back end of the mouse. I have to constantly watch for her to strike so I can make sure the mouse doesn't bite into her. Is there a reason that she isn't striking at the head like the first 3 or 4 feedings?
Re: Is there something wrong with my snake?
Thanks. I was just worried.
Re: Is there something wrong with my snake?
Why not try feeding thawed frozen ??
It's far cheaper as well ..

She's been fed live since birth. I didn't want to change that.

feeding live comes with many disadvantages vs f/t, especially once the animal needs to eat larger prey. a small rat, which she will be eating within a year or so, can do way more damage than the size you're feeding now if something were to go wrong.
JSYK: the older the snake gets, the harder it can be to make the switch. since you seem very concerned with feeding live i'd consider the pros and cons of f/t, but ultimately it's up to you.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into changing her over.

If you do go down the thawed frozen route , try my method .
This method WORKS great - if done properly ...
I wait until evening as they're nocturnal of course . I let the rodent thaw out in the reptile room so they get the smell ..
Then I warm up the mouse / rat with a hairdryer and offer with tongs IMMEDIATELY whilst still warm . If refused simply repeat the heating and offering as many times as needed. .
A couple of mine will only strike feed from within their hides so I dangle the warm rodent in front of the hide's entrance - usually works but if it fails simply reheat the rodent with a hairdryer and immediately offer again whilst it's still warm continue until it's grabbed ...
Incidentally , if it shows no interest at all not even a tongue flicker maybe it's best to leave for a week or so.
