Cage size

I am new to herping I have an almost 2 month old Ball Python. She is currently in a 5 gallon tank that I got with her.
Is it too early to put her in a 10 or even just straight to a 20 gallon tank?

Well that really depends on the snake, how big she is and how comfortable she is in larger spaces. That being said I'm pretty sure 10 gallon is the standard for juvenile BPs so you should be fine with that regardless. When I got my boy at 3 months 98g he went straight to a 20 gallon and he liked it just fine but I do know that since are uncomfortable with the space.

I personally think you will be fine moving up to the 20 as long as you keep the husbandry right and make sure to fill it with lots of toys and fake plants so they don't feel too exposed. Just make sure to observe them when you do and make sure they settle in well

This is a question which will get you mixed replies.

If you are insistent on glass, which is perfectly fine, then yes, going straight to the 20 gallon can work. Just be aware that it will require more work on your end to get everything (temps, humidity, etc...) dialed in.

If your snake refuses meals, husbandry is usually the reason.

That being said, plenty of people have success using glass enclosures from the beginning, myself included.

IMPORTANT: Have you studied the husbandry stickies on this forum? Are you familiar with the proper way to set up a glass enclosure? There is a lot than can go wrong in the beginning. Reading and following the stickies on how to set up a glass enclosure will take the guess work out of the equation for you, helping your snake and helping you enjoy your new pet. You're better off buying the right equipment once than wasting money buying the wrong equipment and having to replace it.

Thanks for the replies. I read up as much as I can and as stated there are A LOT of mixed replies and opinions so if you guys have any links to shoot me i'd be happy to take a look. I'm debating on getting an exo terra front opening cage or switching to a sterlite container and fabricating some things for it. What would you guys suggest, are there any sites I could get a pre done proper habitat?

you can get some pretty great pvc enclosures, but they aren't cheap. animal plastics is probably the most common and well reviewed on here.

I do glass. But I researched and set up for 6 months before brining boople home. I had it dialed in. A lot of tweaking, paranoia, and asking for help. I like glass because I want to see my babies. Yes, yes, I'm selfish lol.

Oh and I have boople in a 20 long and will have Odyn in a 10.

You can look at Animal Plastics, which is popular here. You can also look at constrictors NW, which in my opinion, uses better plastic. They both make very similar cages.
