i learned that Velcro got its name because, when the inventor was giving a presentation on his invention, he used a piece of velvet and crochet hooks to demonstrate how it worked.

    velvet + crochet = Velcro

Warning! Possibly NSFW? Not sure but just in case here ya go

    Today I learned that...

    1) When putting a new coat of paint on walls and crown molding, it's important to do all the prep work (sanding, filling in dents, fixing any imperfections on the wall, corking, sanding some more) because it doesn't matter how good the paintjob is- without the prep it'll still look crappy.

    2) Water spiders spin an underwater bell, called a diving bell, and spend the majority of their time under it

    3) 97% of birds do not have a penis. Ducks are part of the small minority that does.

    4) 5 ways to factor equations (review but I forgot some stuff anyway so why not)

Possibly the most random list, but hey! This is the stuff I learned so far. I'll see if anything else comes along!

Today I learned that if you see a meme on FB that says to tag a woman you know that farts in her sleep, you SHOULD NOT share it on your girlfriends timeline. No matter how funny you think it is.

    can't unlearn it, can't unsee it. :/

    ok i learned this today:

the Statue of Liberty was originally shiny copper in color back in 1886!

    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach....com/9bc1V.jpg

i guess that makes sense since she is made outta copper. but oxidization of the copper covered it in a green skin by the 1900's. very neat fact!
