Success!! Switch from live to frozen, thaw.
My daughter got a Butter ball python last weekend at the Minnesota reptile show. She was on live when we got her, waited all week to feed her. She was a little shy at first but she came out and nailed it. We have live mice as pets also in the house I used some bedding to scent the mouse.

This may be a stupid question but how exactly do you scent the BP with the bedding? After you thaw it out, do you let it sit in it for a bit? This is the one method of F/T I haven't tried and I feel like it would work for my bp

You can use these methods, escalating as needed:

    • Thaw the rat with a mouse in the same bag.
    • Get mouse bedding that's been urinated in and "shake n' bake" your rat in a baggie of it.
    • Brain a mouse and smear the brain matter on the rat.

I took some used bedding from my other daughters mouse, used the stuff in where she sleeps so no poop. put the F/T mouse in the bedding for 30 seconds or so after I thawed it and it was warm yet. I don't think she could tell it was dead with a good zombie dance.

I do this at work all the time for balls that don't eat. I do it two ways. 1) thaw your mouse/rat get it nice and warm. Throw it in a bag with the stinky bedding and shake it. Or 2)put your frozen mouse/rat into the bag with the bedding and then throw it in hot water to warm up. Gets it extra mouse flavored lol.

Sounds good until you wash most of the smell and taste away in water - I'd put it in a plastic boat then dip in very warm water
