Pissed off and not eating

I got my BP from a great breeder (based on reviews) but since getting her she has refused to eat. She'll "S" up and look all menacing but then after a bit she just slithers away. I'm feeding her f/t rat fuzzies, which are the appropriate size. Well today, I offered it to her and she was striking it without coiling up and hissing like crazy. Literally every breath was a hiss. She was striking at anything that got near her (including my hand, ouch). I haven't seen this kind of behavior before, is she just having a bad day? Should I give her a week with no food and try again after that?

Just leave it in her enclosure and walk away.

Try a small live prey. Sometimes it helps get them interested. Some snakes just need time to adapt to the new envorment. I have two girls that's haven't touched a meal since I got them over a month ago. Just give them time and offer smaller meals than usual so they don't get stressed out.

Mine was acting the same way. Struck at anything that moved. I feed frozen to my others. Offered him one. Struck at it at least 9-10x and missed every time. Few days later threw a live one in there. And struck at it and nailed it on the first try. Thought he was blind up until that.

Try feeding live. Give him a week alone to get used to his new environment. It may seem hard but you literally should just leave him alone for a week. Maybe just go in to change water. After that throw a live meal in and observe what happens next.

How long have you had it ?? For what it's worth It sounds like it's simply stressed out and needs a week or so to settle down ..

I personally wouldn't resort to feeding LIVE so soon as it's gonna be harder to get her feeding thawed after that ... Consider leaving for a week , no offering food or handling or even disturbing just freshen up the water .

Then try my proven method ...

This method WORKS if done properly ...
I wait until evening as they're nocturnal of course . I let the rodent thaw out in the reptile room so they get the smell ..
Then I warm up the mouse / rat with a hairdryer and offer with tongs IMMEDIATELY whilst still warm . If refused simply repeat the heating and offering as many times as needed. .
A couple of mine will only strike feed from within their hides so I dangle the warm rodent in front of the hide's entrance - usually works but if it fails simply reheat the rodent with a hairdryer and immediately offer again whilst it's still warm continue until it's grabbed ...


Incidentally , if it shows no interest at all not even a tongue flicker maybe it's best to leave for a week or so.
