Bioactive tank enclosure advice!
I asked this question in General BPs but I wasn't able to find my answer.
What type of terrarium is best for having a ball python in a bioactive setup?
Would a screened top make the humidity still too unstable or would it allow excess moisture to escape?
Would an Animal Plastics trap too much moisture or make life easier? Haha
So basically an Exo Terra or Animal Plastics?

What kind of heat are you planning on using

Well if I did a glass tank I was going to use a UTH on the side of the tank. I'm not sure if that would work with Animals Plastics

I guess I should have asked this as well. What are your room temps

It's anywhere from 72-81 but when the air is on I try to make sure to turn my room heater on to keep it above 78. I could possibly have a whole cut out for heat if I need it or it can be extra ventilation?

Well if you're going with a PVC enclosure an RHP will do great with the colder room temps compared to sticking a uth on the side of the tank. I'm currently using a glass tank with a screen lid. I made a custom foam background which insulates the tank very well. Most of the screen lid has been covered as well so I don't have much ventilation. Haven't had any problems with humidity. Set up a proper drainage layer so your substrate layer doesn't get soggy. I don't see why either wouldn't work just depends how much money you want to spend on the enclosure and. You can find cheap used tanks all day long but it's gonna cost you more for an AP cage. But it would be less work upfront also

I think I may just do a glass enclosure and try it out! It seems a lot of people are having success with them when it's bioactive. I will just cover parts of the top if I have to! I'm building my walls with insulation as well :)

Good luck. Check out neherps website. Tons of info on starting a bioactive set up
