    New job
I'm thinking of getting a job at petco since that's the nearest pet store to me (I get all my feeder rats by a local rat breeder so i don't have to worry about, yk, petco food) should i go for it? I wanna get a BTS and a BD and i wanna get their supplies there, not the actual reptile bur just the basics like tanks and wood, plus some fulkers food for a dubia colony i want to start before getting any lizards. Should i go for it? I feel like i could be a viable asset to their team since i know more about reptiles than the average man; plus i could get a discount on all my general needs. All inputs are accepted, good or bad.

    Re: New job
IMO working at these big box stores isn't so bad from a moral point of view; i've been considering it as a weekend gig for the extra income. SOMEONE has to work there.

it's the whole "being part of a corporation that has proven their sales are more important than their animals" idea that most people refuse to support these places in any way.

personally i like the idea of being an "inside man" and teaching new or soon-to-be reptile owners real proper care, better product alternatives and, if i can't help, where to find truly knowledgeable people to help them (bp.net woop!) by steering them away from the store lol. of course i would do this on the DL but if i get caught it wouldn't hurt me to lose the job financially or otherwise. this part may not apply to you. it's always refreshing to see us like-minded and educated people working at these stores. it's a little victory for the animals.

all in all it sucks to understand these stores' role as a corporation, but sometimes they have what i need; i just bought a hide for my corn snake at petsmart last week.

it's up to you. no one is going to come after you with pitchforks if you decide to work there lol. 😊 plus, who doesn't like getting an employee discount???
