    Housing question
Need opinions. I'm trying to switch from keeping in tanks to a rack system. So is it good to use a sterilite 3 drawer wide storage cart as a snake rack. Am using reptile carpet as a substrate. And put a few tiny holes around outside of each drawer. Have modified it to use mini undertank heaters and give the cords room to slide in and out. So what I want to know is.... Is that good enough to keep heat and humidity in. Don't think I'm going to need any overhead heat lamps since I never seen any on anybody else's real snake racks.

Got pictures or a link to the rack you're modifying?

If its the one with pull out draws, no its not secure.
FYI reptile carpet is a great breeding ground for everything you dont want in your enclosures.

I'm putting child safety locks on the drawers. And not the kind that lets it come out a few inches before it stops. Putting the kind that doesn't let it open at all. Better than padlock hasps. Don't need to padlock it. Just to secure the drawers shut. Everybody else in house is afraid of snakes. So not like I'm worried about it getting broke into.

The draws are NOT stong enough and their walls flex too much.
Search this forum, you are not the first person to try using one and you probably wont be the last to have a snake push out of one either......

Every time I walk by those things in the store, I say to myself those would be great if..... and if.... and if...

Don't waste your time. Those things will not meet your needs.

Check you tube, and build one

The racks you are talking about are no way secure nor can be adapted to keep snakes.
