very active bp
my bp is very active all of a sudden. usually he sleeps all day and only slithers around his enclosure occasionally or when he's hungry.
however for the past few days he is cruising all the time. i don't know what's wrong.
is he stressed? i don't think he's hungry i just fed him a few days ago
food: live large mouse every 5-7 days
(rats are too big for him)
ambient temp: 75-80 degrees
cool side floor temp: 80 degrees
hot side floor temp: 88-90 degrees
(temperatures measured with an infrared temperature gun under the substrate)
enclosure:
tub with two hides, a water bowl, and some plants.
two heat pads, one for the hot side and one for the cool side set to different temperatures (in the winter it gets very very cold so that's why there's two)
temperatures regulated with a herpstat 2, probe is in between heat pads and bottom of tub
substrate is aspen
so, what's wrong? why is he so active?
he even wakes me up in the middle of the night because of how much he's moving around.

Re: very active bp
They're nocturnal animals, so they're naturally more active at night.
He's probably just 'splorin his home. There are adventurous BP's that just like to move around. Perhaps take him out sometime and let him explore some more. They're very curious, and some have an explorative edge to them. If he's eating regularly, shedding fine, and has no physical signs of ailments, then he's just adventurous. Get him to a vet maybe just to be sure but he sounds fine.

Yeah, he just probably feels secure enough in his new home that he can freely move around in it.

Re: very active bp
you say he's cruising all the time: that is NOT normal. does this include the daytime? what's the enclosure like?

sometimes during the day, always during the night
i thought it could be because the enclosure is too big (it's like 1 foot by 2 feet by a few inches) but he has always felt secure in it, no cruising like this or anything
before, when he was active i would take him out for a bit and when i put him back in he would settle down
now if i do that he keeps cruising
i don't know what's wrong

how many gallons is the enclosure? how old is the snake and how much do they weigh (on mobile sorry if i misread)?
you're POSITIVE about your temps? humidity is correct? all heat regulated? is there enough clutter?

i believe it is 32 quarts
temps are correct, i just double checked
humidity varies from 50-60% and higher when shedding
bp is around eight months old and weighs 230g (he did not eat for a long time when i first got him)
he is around 15 inches
i will add more clutter today and see how he responds

Re: very active bp
He is good. I suggest you switch him to rats asap. Rat pups will be good for him
