    Newbie snack rack lighting ?
So, I have a ball python that I'm really interested in moving to a rack system. However, It would be placed in my bedroom for the next year and a half at least.

How does lighting go with a rack system? I've seen rack systems with solid colored tubs, and of course clear. Is one preferred over the other?

I work nightshift so my window is blacked out during the day. I wonder if I could clamp a light on something for the outside... or is it not a big deal?

We keep ours in opaque tubs. Steralite bins. I wish I had a better answer about the light though. What if you left your room light on at night when you weren't there? I'm not sure what that would do to the internal clock of the snakes though. Is sleeping without the curtain an option at all?

Yeah those were my concerns as well. There's just no way I could pull off sleeping without the curtains. I work three 12 hour shifts a week. But for the rest of the week the curtains could be open, as I like being up during the day. But I know that would have to mess with the animals. Worse comes to worse, I'll just hold off. His temps are stabilized, is just like to get a couple more, you know?

Its not not worth it to me to induce and abnormal stress...

Is there anywhere else in the house to keep them? We have a 6 bedroom house so we have a room dedicated but I get thats unrealistic for a lot of people. When we just had one we actually kept him in a tank in our dining room haha. Minimal traffic....people didn't walk past often....we had large deck doors to let it light....and we are Canadian so we were worried about the basement in winter haha.

Realistically no. I have a room mate but no other option for rack placement except my room. Thanks for your input ! I'll probably be getting my own place in the next year and a half , and I'd definitely have a dedicated room
