    Eating while in blue ?
My Ares is in blue since yesterday. I know some will eat , some will refuse food. For example my ball python will not eat. She will sniff but will not strike or eat. Ares my sumatran short tail is in blue and has really opaque eyes. He is really defensiv now. I offered him a rat and he 2 times just bit the rat to back off. Then he stroke her and wrapped himself around her. I thought he will eat it as usual but he went back to his hide and refused to eat. Is this behaviour ok?

Our womas are the only snakes I have ever seen that will eat when blue. The behavior you mention sounds typical for most snakes in shed.

Thank you.🖒 I was just wondering that he wrapped himself around the rat after striking and then went away. My ball python for instance just shows interest but does not strike or wrap around when in shed .

Presumably they don't see well if the eyes are blue / milky so that explains the changed behaviour . Only my Kings eat when in shed mode .

Normal, my short tails rarely eat in shed so I don't usually offer during.

I was just about to say the same thing! My King will eat ANYTHING, ANY TIME. He'd probably eat a leftover slice of pizza while in blue if I threw it in there, as long as there's meat on the pizza!! ;)

My other snakes don't eat at any point during the shed ding process. I don't even bother offering anymore.

My mexican black kingsnake used to show similar behavior. I'd say that's normal, just differs on individual snakes.

I have some balls that will eat no matter what, but this is rare. Most will not eat in shed. Some will defensively strike and some will strike, constrict and leave it, some will just "run away" from the food. Once I see behavior like this I never again offer that particular animal food in shed.
