    BP has swollen spur/vent
I bought a BP on the 11th of June and when I was examining him I found that he had a swollen spur (by his vent) and the guy told me he feeds him live and it was just a healed rat bite. I figured it was okay. I took him home and after a week he ate frozen and pooped a few times and is doing fine. But the swollen spur really started to worry me when I noticed that the other spur was missing, the base of his spur was their but it was like broken off. Does anyone know of a disease or infection that could cause this? Or is it likely just an old rat bite?

Can be a variety of things the one thing that is sure is that you need to make a vet appointment, there is likely an abscess to be drained which will most likely be followed by a course of anti-biotics.

Looks like more than a simple rat bite, I'd agree with Deb that's vet visit worthy.
