    ground or arboreal?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that ball pythons were a ground snake, but my BP really likes climbing on the rings I have set up on top of the cage. Are all BPs like this, or do I just have a weird snake?

they are a ground dwelling snake most of the time and rather clumsy when climbing but will somewhat. what you are probably seeing is your snake exploring his escape route. does your cage open at the top? i found when i had a sliding screen top cage he was always cruising his highest branches. when i switched to a bigger cage with a side door he now sits at the door and stares at me to let him out.

They like to climb, but I think that has a lot to do with looking for an escape root ;). However, overall they are terrible climbers (in a vivarium they fall all over the place) so they spend most of their time on the ground in the wild.

But someone more knowledgable than me may say otherwise ;).

If your bp is spending alot of time climbing in the enclosure, you may want to make sure your temperatures are correct. The bp could just be climbing to get to the temperatures that it likes. Remember, 92-94 warm side/ 82-84 cool side :)

I'm watching a BP for a friend and this snake does enjoy climbing and staying suspended for periods of time (Temps are right on 92 hot 80 cool). My BP however will only climb to check out an escape route.
