    Should i be concerned?
Hello I am a new ball python owner and i have a male 4 to 5 month old bumblebee ball python, I have 2 hides in his 20 gallon tank he moves from both hides however i recently put some new decor in his tank which one of them consists of a medium sized artificial fan leaf palm, it provides overhead cover and im just wondering if my bp would consider this a hide as well, he is currently sitting under it, i know that a hiding ball python is a happy ball python and i want to make sure he is okay. Thank you for your input.

What are his temps and humidity at?

How is the temperature being controlled?

Is he doing this during the day, at night or at random?

My female would sit on top of her hide in the evening just because or would hang out on the cool side. When she was spending more time there I double checked my thermostat probe and it was not sitting properly so the temps were rising. If your temps are correct I wouldn't be too worried as he knows where the hides are at.

I have my cool side of my tank right around 80 degrees and my hot side at 90 with a UTH on that side as well since i figure if hes on that side he wants to warm up. The humidity is right at 50 which if i goes lower than that I mist his tank i have the new plant decor on the hot side at well and so far ive only observed this at night in fact this is the first time i saw it

    As above really ...

Plus consider adding a few branches to the setup - he WILL use them in the evenings !
