What is a Ball Python like at Night?
Since I've got my BP I've noticed he likes to roam around at night, and climb on everything ect. Is this a normal behavior of BP's? I've heard that if they climb around a lot it might be a sign of stress and that they are trying to escape. Is it true that he might be stressed or is he just doing his thing like normal?

If it's only happening at night and he's hiding during the day its fine. My girl likes to knock everything over at night but she chills in her hides all day. I would say it's normal to see them out at night. Some are more active than others.

Yup it's only at night, same deal over here, he just chills in his hides in the day. No problems with eating or anything. He is just so active at night compared to what he is in the day, it threw me off a little.

BPs are nocturnal so that may be a factor

    1.0 Normal
    Normal doesn't mean boring! 😊

Due to BPs being nocturnal, yes this is normal.
If you'd like to share your husbandry info to eliminate any concerns we may be able to help you further.

    What type of enclosure?
How are you heating and regulating the enclosure?
What are your temps? Where and how are you measuring temps?
    Humidity?
What do you have in the enclosure? Hides, etc...

Put some branches in there and they're very entertaining !

40 gallon tank, heat gradient of 80-85, heat pad of 90-92, 2 hides (one on each side), 2 digital termometers on each side and a digital humidity gage, humidity varies from 50-60%. He dose have a nice deformed branch thing that he likes to climb on at night and a bunch of vines all over in the enclosure to give it some cover for him, along with a few half burried rocks to help in shed or for him to navigate. Thats it besides the water bowl, only the best for my little guy.

Ok, sounds good. Are you using a thermostat?

+1 to this. Our BP trashes her cage a few nights a week. Not surprising that it seems to happen when it gets closer to feeding day lol.

All my ball pythons are more active during the night rather then the day and their supposed to be diurnal but mine love the night and move around alot more and even eat more at night if they won't eat I try around midnight to 2 or 3 am when every I wake up or am awake still but they never refuse at night
