    Accident with bedding
I got some cypress mulch for my new bp i got last week and just put him on it today. After i was finished i noticed the bag said cypress blend which was ignorant for me not to notice in the first place. Anyways i googled it and found out that there could be cedar in with it. Immediately got him off and bought some coconut husk shavings. So he was on the cypress mix for about 30 minutes. My question is could harm be cause from the bedding that fast? If so what do i need to look for?

I doubt it. Just make sure ther is no dust from the bedding on him or anything else.

I've been told from other folks on here that "cypress blend" actually just means it's a blend of differently colored or sourced cypress mulch. Large garden sized bag from Lowe's?

If there was cedar in it you would be able to smell it.

I use to use cypress blend for years so have or are many other breeders.

Also it's not wood of the softwoods, its the phenols in it which is the oils. So as long as the stuff is kiln dried, it should be fine. And you will definitely smell the phenols if the wood isnt kiln dried.

And to answer your question, it should be fine. Even if it did have cedar in it, 30 mins probably isnt going to do any damage. It wasnt pure freshly cut cedar or anything if any at all.

The Pencil Cedar as well as other cedar trees can be found in Africa. I would guess many a ball python has either rested or crawled in the needle drop of a cedar tree.....and they have avoided extinction so far. Your snake will be just fine.
