Opinions on using a dead reptile's skin for leather?
Do you have an issue with it, would it both you? Would you actually want to do it?
A general assumption in this topic is that the animal died from something other than the owner killing it for this purpose. RI gone bad, age, injury, etc. Something other than for the intent of killing it.
Re: Opinions on using a dead reptile's skin for leather?
i see no problem with this.
for me i would rather bury the animal instesd
but i think everyone deals with loss in different ways and it is a good idea to do this
if i did this i would hire somebody else to do it for me, because i think like cutting the animal open would really hit hard for me.
but yeah, you do you.
Re: Opinions on using a dead reptile's skin for leather?
There's nothing ethically wrong with it, but it would really weird me out if someone was wearing or carrying something made out of their dead pet's skin. Like "here's my wallet - it's made out of my dead cat Mittens." I'm not bothered by preserved specimens in general, or turtle shells or whatever - it's the dimension of pet and potential emotional attachment that would make me uncomfortable.
