    Alien Covenant Sculpture
So Alien Covenant was...epic. I loved every second of that film. It was exactly what an 'Alien' movie should be. :)

I've started an art project for it. This first little piece is just a small 'proof of concept' piece that I did. It's the 'derelict ship' from the series. I'll be making a larger version that going to be set into a sculpted hill/forest scene to mimic the crash site. I've never sculpted a ship or a landscape before so wish me luck!

Finished in faux bronze so that I can wear it as a pendant. More to come on the larger scale version. Line detail added to the ship using dental floss.

As a huge Alien fan, I disagree with you on every level and thought that movie was horrible LOL but I do really like your sculpture proof.

From what I can tell Alien fans either love or hate it, very little 'meh'. Heehee. My friend felt 'deeply betrayed' by the ending, which amused me. I tend to watch movies very differently than other people. I could have stared at David's study for hours, sooooo much amazing detail. I enjoy setting and scene just as much as action and characters. :)

yeah I agree, the settings and set pieces were amazing, I wish they had spent more time in David's study. If you haven't seen it and are interested, check out "Tested" on youtube, Adam Savage (from mythbusters) got to do some behind the scenes vids on the set and talked to some of the prop designers, really cool stuff!

The art and models in David's study were epic! They need to pick up that room and put it in an amusement park for people to visit. I will check out that video!

Loved the tiny Xenomorph that popped out of the Captain's chest, such amazing lighting effects and if I'm being honest that alien and how he interacted with David was just damn adorable. Heehee.

So I got distracted from my ship sculpture but not from Alien Covenant. So I'm going all out and I'm doing a life sized sculpture of David's hand holding one of his children!

Here is the sketch of the little xenomorph! What a cutie...right?

Here is the start of the xenomorph wire work.

Here is the start of David's hand! I'm super proud of this! I used my husband's hand for a model to get the size. This is just the first layer of muscle, I will flesh it out once it dries.

    Continuing to work!

I used my own thumb to add fingerprint detail and then added the Weyland logo (Prometheus showed us that David has this logo in his fingerprints). I'm not done with the rest of the hand but I couldn't help myself I had to bronze it up to see the detail. http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/smile.gif

I loved putting detail into the back of the hand. Fingers still need their final layer.

Here is the little xenomorph in progress.
