    Temperatures and probe location question
    Hi everyone

so I got my first snake and love him to death amazing little guy
so I have a few questions
maybe they been answered but couldn't find them on the forum so I figured I'll ask to be safe
so I have a uth mat and a jump start thermostat set I've placed the probe on top of the uth mat on the adhesive side and placed it well under the tank then I've place a separate digital thermometer on top of the uth under the substrate so I can read the temperatures so my jump start temperature is set at 98
mans the I get a reading on my digital of 89
just want to know if that's okay and safe because the probe is right on the heating mat

    thansk for any input guys

    Seems you have it correct.

I keep my hotspot a tad cooler in a range of 85-88. Makes me feel better. Just a personal preference.

Also make sure the substrate over the uth is a thin layer, 1/4 inch of less.

What type of thermometer is it? The adhesive type that changes color I think zoo med makes it. Get a infrared gun their about $20 + I own. General brand their far more accurate. I keep my balls in a rack with hot spot of 88-92 and ambient at 78-80
