Humidity control issues with substrate?
I got my ball python about a month ago. We had her on Coconut Husk substrate but the humidity levels are way too high, around 75%. I've switched her onto paper towel temporarily but would like to find a more natural substrate that she can burrow in as she seemed to like doing that. Out of the other options, which will be better to try and keep the humidity down?
She's in a small plastic tub with air holes, so we do also have the option of adding more holes if that won't cause a problem with keeping the heat in.

Are you only using a uth? I'd say slightly bigger holes or add a few. Or let the substrate dry out a little before putting it in. I'm using it also and it seems pretty damp out of the bag, it also seems to be the top preferred.

An UTH and a heater in the room for ambient heat (which with summer soon upon us we won't need). We haven't been able to purchase a heat lamp and an additional thermostat for it yet.

It doesnt seem like u would need one as long as ur temps are in check, especially with a heater in the room and summer coming up. U could try aspen which I came from because my humidity was too low. I'd save some money before buying anything first with those mods unless anybody else has some ideas on other mods.

Are you using one of those stick-on hygrometers to get humidity readings ??
It's just that I found them to be worse than useless ..

No, we're using the acurite indoor/outdoor thermometer with hygrometer to get readings.
