Just got my new snake mate

I just purchased my 2^nd BP for a potential mate for my female last week.

I left him alone all week in a Rubbermaid so he could acclimate a little just added water.

He hasn’t eaten yet ( but i am going to try and feed him tomorrow)

I have divided a 60” tank in ½ (30&30)

Both sides have separate inserts from the water bowl to the temp and humidity probes

I have a separation barrier in the middle to keep the apart from one another but my question would be…and I know everyone is going to say do the rack system but I would like to keep them in the tank.

Should I be concerned about them reaching each other?

How often (if at all) should I introduce them to each other? Or is it even necessary for their potential pairing or just temperament? Idk? Enlighten me?

Well to start you should quarantine your new snake in case of mite, respiratory issues, or any other undetectable issues. Anything your new snake may have can be easily passed to your current one, especially in a setup like you described. I don't know how sturdy the divider is that you've put up, you'd probably have to show a picture for us to get an idea of it. As far as introducing, it's not really needed except when you start pairing them. Though snakey playdates seem fun and a lot of people will get multiple snakes out together, they really have no need for social interaction.

I guess my question is it ok to use a big tank to separate the two from one another and will this effect potential breeding (if you guys have ever tried this type of set up) and though separate enclosures are preferable, on a scale from 1-10 how concerned should I be of any potential issues that may arise besides cannibalism and sickness as they both have a clean bill of health (pretty little penny smfh!) but never too safe feel me...

Yes ! thats why i took both to the vet just to have an idea of issues to look out for in the new guy, and he was cleared.

i just added them in the tank together for the 1st time last night and my female keeps trying to get on his side.
I have a peice of flat wood (1/2 thick) to seperate them with the bottom of the bedding raocked up and of coconut fibers to cover it

SEPARATE THE SNAKES! there is ZERO benefit to all involved. they will stress and constantly compete for the best spots and hides. beeps should NOT be housed together under any circumstances, even when breeding the snakes are separated after only a few hours.

health issues do not show up right away and it can take almost half a year for any illnesses to show symptoms. that's why quarantines last 3-6 months.

I would suggest doing a lot more research on breeding before you even think about pairing up snakes. The type of enclosure has very little factor in desire or ability to breed beyond whether or not the snake(s) are comfortable and stress free in them. Of a much more important question is how well their husbandry needs are being met.

If your divider is not secured directly to the enclosure, your snakes with find a way over it, under it, or just plain knock it down. I would also not recommend wood as divider; anything wood in a snake enclosure will get popped and peeped on, and will soak up any moisture from a spill or even the ambient humidity, and will eventually begin to rot and mold. All wood furnishings need to be removable so that they can be cleaned, but a divider in a glass enclosure must be anchored in place with aquarium safe silicone in order to work effectively. Remove both snakes, fully clean out the tank, get a piece of glass cut to size and cleaned of sharp corners, attach it and let cure according to the directions on the silicone.
