Finally fixed my viv.

To anyone who was paying attention to my woes in various other threads (I somehow managed to dislodge a sliding glass door and it smashed, so I had to hold it together with duct tape as a temporary measure) all is now okay.
I got a replacement piece of glass cut (polished edges) over the weekend but that turned out to be very much the easy part.

I also wanted to properly glue down my various probes and redrill holes in the correct places. One tip I have deginetly learned is *always get your viv set up and running at least 24 hours before you bring the snake home*. Trying to rush through it with a stressed snake in a plastic box just led me to do everything wrong.

2 hours later and after much drilling, swearing, screaming, glueing, screwing and unscrewing I'm done. Not what I needed after a busy day at work.
In order to fit the new glass door I ended up having to take the top off the viv and nearly ruined everything but it is ok now.

Thanks to chevyguy for the gluegun tip as a way to secure temp/thermostat probes under the newspaper. I had just been leaving them lying there and Monty had developed a knack of moving things around and wreaking havoc with temperature control.

Monty spent the entire adventure in a plastic box in another room. He has gone back to his 'circling the cage' behaviour that he had when I first got him last weekend. He had been much calmer recently and ate for the first time on Saturday. It is like starting again :(

Oh sounds like fun! I can just imagine the rather inventive swearing you'd have done coming from London LOL.


When we changed our one b.p. from a smaller tub to a larger one recently it took her a bit to settle back in and she's got to be the world's easiest going snake but it is a stressful thing for them.

Hopefully it will all be smoother sailing for both you and Monty now.

Sounds like the trouble I had with one of my vivs. It has sliding doors in front, but some genius made them out of plexiglass, which we all know, bends when it is under alot of humidity. So I have to tape the doors shut in the middle where they cross tracks. It is escape proof, but hideous lookin. Hopefully someday my viv will be fixed right like yers!!
