    getting a blue tongue skink??
i've been reading up and looking at blue tongue skinks for a while now. I'm really considering getting one or getting a black and white argentine tegu. What do you all think of them as pets for a second lizard owner and one would be better pet. I had a few leopard geckos maybe 8 years ago but iv'e been keeping snakes for the past 4 years. ALso, what would the the most reliable place to get a blue tongue skink/tegu ? I wish there were reptile expos where i live (south dakota) but there are none. Any info would be nice!

I can't speak for blue-tongues, but I have an African Fire Skink who is an awesome lizard.

They make great pets, they are have personality, they are fun and have a nice size.

A blue tongue will do best in a 4x2 cage not a tank, heat mat, T-stat, Aspen bedding an hide.

Diet is pretty easy can be prepared in advance and froze to be thawed when fed.

    There are a few breeders.

Massive difference between a Tegu and a BTS. No way to compare them at all. As Deborah said care for a BTS is pretty easy once you have it all dialed in. For a Tegu you are looking at a massive cage (mine is in a 8ftx4ftx4ft) massive amounts of food, a much bigger and more active animal that can put the hurt on you when they are in a bad mood. Not all of them are "puppy dog tame"...
