Best Corn snake bedding/substrate in canada?
im having a really hard time finding an affordable bedding for my fully grown corn snake (getting it next week)

I need to have it ready by the time i get my snake

Could i use this http://bit.ly/2rp2oDh its super cheap

some others i could get are http://bit.ly/2roHDYu or http://bit.ly/2qpMQkf but they are expensive

i could also use shredded news paper

which one of these, or anything else i can purchase in canada would be good for a fully grown corn snake, that isnt that expensive

and if you can tell me why, because it seems every bedding has its pros and cons, and i really want to get the right one

    thank you :)

The small animal bedding is almost always very dust heavy which can have long lasting effects on your snake. I'm sure a few users will chime in that may have a source for bedding that might be cheaper. Either the forest floor or snake aspen bedding will work though.

I tried cypress mulch once. It was wet, and I discarded the bag. Wet substrate encourages various opportunistic, naturally occurring species of bacteria which can produce skin diseases in snakes.

My own substrate of choice is several sheets of newspaper with a hiding box for minimizing burrowing. As far as I know, both aspen and shredded newspaper are acceptable bedding materials. Kitty litter is absolutely unacceptable, in my opinion. I once opened a kingsnake that strangled on an inhaled piece of kitty litter.

Try calling a farm supply of poultry feed store in your area and see what sort of litter they sell. Prices ought to be better than Pet Smart.

    Good luck.

Aspen is hands down the best substrate for corn snakes. Holds a burrow well and simulates hay in a barn, where corn snakes are sometimes found. Costs me around 20$ for two months supply

What colour / morph is the Corn snake incidentally ??

I much prefer orchid bark/ ReptiBark to any other type of substrate as it looks great and very natural , makes the snakes look real nice as it enhances their colours .

I detest Aspen as it gets all over the house/ carpets and drives the wife bonkers plus it 'drains' the colours out of colourful / light / or albino snakes ..
