Cake the ball python checking out new environment
I just switched out half the substrate for coco chips and a new set of fake leaves, and Cake immediately (literally) came out to check out the new things! He actually stretched out looong to stare and sniff even while I was dumping in new substrate and shoveling everything around lol. Fearless booger.

Possibly a long and boring video, but I personally find a bp's slow and cautious inquisitiveness very cute and interesting. :D

Snakes do respond and interact with their environment as we know, especially toward things they've never seen before in their enclosure, and even ball pythons do. Cake has always been my most curious, calm, and "outgoing" ball, so he makes a nice example.

He went around licking everything new for almost 10 minutes before he decided he was done and went back into the hide LOL.

Isn't it cute? I don't know how many people miss out on watching a ball's slow and active inquisitiveness, but it's obvious!

also "Dis new. Dis different. I SMELL EVERYTHING!" BASICALLY

AHH thank you!! Glad you liked that little short! :D

Well I've mentioned this before but I have 22 snake viv setups - all with branches , logs and fake foliage .
Anyways every so often I switch pieces of bark and logs around from viv to viv and it gives them all something to think about , sniff and explore ...

Long and boring? Surely you jest...Cake is cute as all get out! I love watching all those tongue flicks...and he has the same water dish as my snakes do. This made a bad day better. ❤️

Nice red! I always had a special affection for Cake since he was really young. Any pics or videos of him are always enjoyable. He looks so healthy. Grats.

Yes I remember! I love how you do that, I'm the same. I think too many people give ball pythons no credit just because they're less active snakes. But just because they are less active doesn't mean they don't appreciate "things to do" as other species of pythons do, just less frequently.

Albert, that pleases me to hear. And I have a special affection for him too! He's the best first snake ever.
